Virginia Oldoini, Countess di Castiglione (1837-1899), was an Italian courtesan and secret agent who achieved notoriety as a mistress of Emperor Napoleon III of France. She commissioned hundreds of portraits of herself, many of them intricately hand-painted and went bankrupt in the process.
